SurreyExternal Lighting
When we first heard from the owners of a cottage in Surrey , they were in a tough spot.
Their electrics had been playing up with lights flickering, circuits tripping – and then eventually a whole house electrical outage.
When we arrived on site to investigate our testing uncovered the culprit: the external garden lighting.
The property had old mains-voltage external lights that had suffered from water damage over the years. And because this lighting circuit was connected to the rest of the house thanks to an old and out of date fuseboard, there was no way to isolate the fault. This meant the garden lighting issue was taking out the entire home’s power.
Our Solution
We started by carrying out a full electrical test across the property to make sure there were no other hidden problems.
Then we recommended:
Fuseboard upgrade – to bring the house up to current electrical safety standards and give the homeowners separate, isolated circuits.
New cabling and external lighting – replacing the old, unsafe fittings with low-voltage, energy-efficient lighting.
Additional features – we added a dedicated feed for pergola lighting at the bottom of the garden, renewed the supply for the pond pump and UV filter, and installed a weatherproof external socket.
The new lighting was set up with wireless switching, meaning we could avoid digging up the garden to run extra cables. Less disruption and less labour cost.
The Results
The homeowners now have a modern, safe electrical system that gives them peace of mind. If a fault occurs in the future, the affected circuit can be isolated for repair and life can carry on as normal.
Their garden now has an efficient lighting system that not only looks great but saves money on energy bills.
And best of all – they were so pleased with the results that they’ve already invited us back for more projects. That’s the best feedback we could ask for.
